legal light bulbs??

Hi everyone, I recently came across some HID look alike halogen bulbs, MTEC HID STYLE HALOGEN LIGHT BULB 4750K COSMO BLUE, just wondering has anyone put them on? are they legal on road? well.... just any info would be nice, thanks~~~~

they are just standard halogens. I dont see why you cant use them. I had them in my car before i changed to HIDs

there is a trader here who sells them LiquiDSound within his for sale thread he states that it is 100% road legal, so i don't think you will have any issues.

yea i have those bulbs i have the extended wattage ones

i dont think they would be illegal only because theyre a standard bulb
unlike some people who get around with a H.I.D bulb in a normal lens
which is illegal

i have check with the transport dept or anything, cause i got next week
off i might check then hehe

cops get you for having red or blue lights anywhere on your car.
those colours are reserved strictly for police vehicles.
so just make sure they arnt tooooo blue

I bought mtecs cosmos blue for my car when i got it.. and it has that "HID LOOK".. but on the road.. not much visability.. After that.. i bought Phillips Diamond Vision 5000K.. and they were the same colour.. but brighter.. slightly.. I got fed up with the light and ended up buying an HID kit

The basic thing here is.. anything above 4400K WILL REDUCE VISABILITY!
I have Raybrig 4400K and they were used in my car for around a month.. and they were GREAT!..just not that blue

MY Suggestion.. if your on a budget and want hot looking lights.. go for the Mtecs... If you can stretch your budget a litte get Piaa 6000K or Phillips Diamond Vision Halogen Bulbs

If you want whiter lights compared to the stock but still not blue.. get anything below 4400K.. i suggest Raybrig Or Phillips Crystal Vision. Mtec also sell something around 4400K.. just check with liquid sound

In the end. i got sick of these bulbs.. and just forked out some cash for an HID kit. with all the money spent on lights.. i could have about at least 2 HID Kits

The basic thing here is.. anything above 4400K WILL REDUCE VISABILITY!

sort of but not correct... on HIDs it's fine because they produce a natural colour and do not lose intensity

It's because on Halogens, to get a "whiter" light they have to:
- tint the globe blue to remove some of the yellow spectrum
- but because they lose the majority of their intensity by blocking yellow, wattage has to be increased

If you guys wanna get bulbs like MTEC which aren't ADR approved anyway then get something that actually benefits visibility in the form of:
- Philips Xtreme +80%
OR
- OSRAM Night Breaker +90%

Both still keeping stock wattage and won't burn your plugs.

HID's also lose light after 4300k, as the amount of visibile light is sharply reduced - so ur not safe with running 6000k HID's either.
