    CD5 Alarm System

Alright guys, this is going to be my first help post, hopefully someone will be able to give me some advice.

When I first bought my car, the previous owner (I'm only the second owner) told me that they had a remote key for it years ago but that they lost it.

Recently, I went to my nearest Honda dealer and got a remote key for my car, and the guy offered to program it for me. He tried to program the remote 3 times before noticing my anti-theft light in the dash wasn't flashing. He told me that it should be flashing at ALL times.

So, I did some investigation and pulled the anti-theft light out of the dash and traced the wire back to the control module under the dash. From the control module, there are 2 bundles of wires and a separate single wire leading away.

Now, the separate single wire is the one that leads out to the status light in the front of the dash, but the other two I'm not sure about.

Out of curiosity, I decided to see if I could get it to work by unplugging everything, waiting a few minutes, then plugging them back in.

So, after unplugging them and waiting, I started by plugging the status light back in, then I plugged one of the bundles in and there was no sign of life. Finally, when I plugged the third bunch of wires back in, the indicators flashed 3 times, but the alarm system still didn't function.

Now, I've googled endlessly and searched this forum and the only thing I could find was some speculation that the factory alarms are meant to be wired in with the stock stereo head unit in some way. Does anyone know whether this could be my problem?

If that's not the problem, any other help would be appreciated.

EDIT: I'll note my SRS light is also on, if that could have anything to do with it.

I have an engine immobiliser in my CD5. Which the security light never flashes. It only flashes when the engine immobiliser is on and you cant start the car.

If its an alarm problem, i'd suggest asking in the general noob area. Might not be accord specific?

SRS light is the airbag system, so i'm highly doubting it affecting alarm. SRS light is a really common problem with Accords.

my warning lights doesn't work, but the rest does, including the immobiliser, the alarm and central locking, I couldn't be bothered to work out why, the range of the controller seems limited too, but I haven't bothered to work out why either, but alarms made in the early 90s, are pretty much useless anyway as I don't think they have code hopping etc, I'm sure the code can easily to intercepted and copied by a theft if they wanted to steal your car etc.

Just some quick thoughts, I have personally installed a new alarm system and a stereo head unit into my cd5, I can assure you the alarm system is nowhere linked to the stereo head unit.

When I installed the alarm system I notice the wires underneath has been cut for 1-2 times which indicate the previous owner (or maybe the one before that ) had disconnected the factory alarm system and installed an aftermarket one in it, so I guess now it's my turn......

So why don't you just disconnect the old alarm system and installed a new one in it if you know how, alarm systems are readily available in ebay and there are cheap as chips. I believe the entry level alarm system today will be way better than a premium alarm system 15 years ago let go the fact that our CD5's original alarm system may not even be a premium one....

yes cd5 never had a factory alarm fitted.

only thing would be post up pic of a remote if you have one, if you dont then its out with the old and in with the new.

also put your location to point you in the right direction.
