Just removing the belt won't give me a true indication...so no point...
Removing all the components and emptying the fluid didn't change the feeling at all for me - just saved ~5kg. It'll take you a week or two to get used to the heaviness so give it a chance.
So the custom set up you have makes it lighter/better/easier than running fluid into the rack trick?

Thanks so much for your help.
was that a question for me?
what makes you think it won't give a true indication? you want to know what it will be like without p/s. if you remove the belt, the pump no longer assists when steering = non p/s feel

Not correct as simply removing the belt gives you a much worse feeling and overall reduced turning ability as the rack will still be full of fluid but no way of displacing it as you turn left and right. It will essentially be hindered and
More than likely fail or leak or blow a seal somewhere.
So , to make a statement removing the belt is not indicative of how a proper vented ps pump removed rack would feel.
A properly vented looped rack with plenty of fluid and room to vent will run great and last as long as a normal ps pumped rack. I have been running a custom kit on my car and a dozen around Sydney for over 4 years and not one leak or issue. Builds your guns too .
