S2000 on Specialist & Enthusiast Vehicle Scheme (SEVS)

    Hi guys,

I just want to know if anyone knows why the s2000 wouldn't be eligible to be included in the SEVS register?

I ask because I have been looking for a white AP2 for some time. When I did find one about 8 months back it was snapped up in less than an hour after being advertised. I think my only hope may be to import one, if done legally with a RAW, but the car also needs to be included in the SEVS register.

I have looked at the SEVS "Application for Eligibility" form, and one of the first questions is:
"8. Is the vehicle Make currently supplied to the Australian market in the same Vehicle Category in full volume?"

If the answer is "NO" Attach documentary evidence. Vehicles are eligible
subject to verification. Go to question 20.

Here is a link to the application:
    http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roa...VS_Form_08.pdf

Am I right in saying the answer is "NO" or am I reading the question wrong? The s2000 ceased production in 2009 which means it is not "currently supplied to the Australian market in the same Vehicle Category in full volume?"

If this is the case, I am very interested in applying to have the s2000 added to the SEVS register? Does anyone know what documentary evidence is required?

I thought I would ask here first to see if anyone has a quick answer or has been through the process. Alternately I will contact the Department of Infrastructure, Transport.... and ask.

I think I can answer my own question.... The part I think I shouldn't have overlooked is the words "Vehicle Category"
4.1.1 be of a make of vehicle for which vehicles of the same vehicle category are not currently supplied to the market in full volume in Australia

and the s2000, like most passanger vehicles will fit into this catagory:
    4.3.1. PASSENGER CAR (MA)
A passenger vehicle, not being an off-road passenger vehicle or a
forward-control passenger vehicle, having up to 9 seating positions,
    including that of the driver.

as found in the Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule – Definitions and Vehicle Categories)

If anyone is selling a white AP2... please keep me in mind

None of those are eligable as they are the same as our factory delivered cars. Its like importing a Calais, instead of an Executive.

The only S2K available for import is the Type VGS.

I don't think any s2000 is available to import, as none of them are on the SEVS register. 18 months after the car is supplied to the market in full volume in Australia, I believe the car will become eligable as long as it fits at least 2 of the following 4 criteria:
    1. Unique in appearance
    2. Unusual design feature
    3. More than 105kw per tonne
    4. Featured in a publication
