Is it really using that much petrol anyway? Assuming that when you're travelling downhill you aren't using the accelerator.

probably not much but i can see the the rev go drop down to 1000rpm when i put it in N, which mean use less petrol..

Just because your revs are lower it doesnt mean it's using less fuel. If you're going downhill your foot would be off the throttle so no air goes in therefore injectors will be shut, so no fuel is used.

Also putting it in neutral means you are NOT in control of the car, which is why its dangerous.
