the kits are fairly generic and not specific to the civics.
ive helped a friend install one on his fd and ive also got one installed in mine.
the kit is exactly like this:

the way it works is that when u press the unlock button twice on ur key remote, it will open the boot. but the clicks have to be within about 10sec of each other. u dont have to worry about unlocking ur car and accidentally pressing unlock again 20 mins later lol.
the unlock button the driver side arm console can also trigger the boot to open if ur spamming the unlock button from the inside.. as i found this out a couple of weeks ago... while i was driving lol
im pretty sure that there is a diy on how to install this on the fd civics in the diy section of this forum
