    im pretty sure if you wire them to the diagram you put up (last one), if one globe blows the rest should still operate. it does look like a series circuit but technically its
    a parallel circuit. if it was series the negative from the first globe would have to go to the first point of the second globe and so on...

    so if you were to comply a car that hasnt been registered for a while, would i "have" to leave the dimmer switch in to comply?

    Yea the diagram I put up is in parallel. I said if the dimmer doesn't work with the lights in parallel (because it's a variable resistor that only has a certain range) to use a series circuit so the line resistance is increased from all the bulbs.
