The K20Z in the FD is completely different to the DC5 Type S. The K20 in the DC5S is more similar to the JDM K20A in the DC5's than the K20A2 of the AUDM DC5R.
The K20 in the FD2 is running lower compression vs. the DC5S, FN2R etc etc.

    DC5S: K20Z1 ~ 154kW @ 7400rpm
    194Nm @ 7000rpm

    FD2: K20Z2 ~ 114kW @ 6200rpm
    188Nm @ 4200rpm

    FN2R: K20Z4 ~ 148kW @ 7800rpm
    193Nm @ 7300rpm

    DC5R: K20A2 ~ 147kW @ 7400rpm
    192Nm @ 6000rpm

EP3 would be putting out more kW than the DC5S with the JDM K20A.

Hmm might just stick with the the VTI if i choose to go FD. Are there any differences between the sport and vti aesthetically? Same lips around the car?

06-07 sport over 06-07 vti has sunroof, climate control, side mirror indicators, fog lights, side airbags and 6 stacker cd player and the alloy wheels... and i think the aux cable is missing on the vti

apart from that they look pretty much the same

and the exhaust finisher on the sport

And the FD2 came with (or used to) with those HOT EP3 alloys.

I know you didn't ask about performance. But I think it may be worth paying that bit more to gain those extras and also the extra performance.
The K20 is putting out around 20kW more than the R18 with a DOHC VTEC vs. a SOHC VTEC.

I would like better performance but I don't think I can justify spending an extra 4 ish grand on a sport model over that vti i posted. I'm not really fussed on the other extras and the money saved by getting a vti could mean a bit of scrilla to mod around.

Its got a 11kw difference lol. Yeah but theres like a 5-10k difference in price for those "extras". For the price of a decent fd2, you could be getting a dc5r or ep3 which has like 30kw more than the fd2. Imagine what you could be doing with the 5-10k that you save from the fd2 to be invested into a fd1. Chuck in a k24 with that money lol
