well here they are:

this is what i noticed:
after taking it off and revving on Idle, much more deeper suction noise, sounds a little more aggressive.
I was suggested that i were to fill the left over hole with a bathroom plug, which i didn't have at the time, so i had to drive to bunnings with a hole in my intake!
Suction noise while driving was much more different than stock at around 3000 rps.
Here's the funny thing. I came to a stop at a red light, and the steering wheel started to shake, and my engine completely shut off, followed by two lights on the dashboard: "Oil" and "Battery" lights came on.
I SHIT MYSELF, I WAS STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAIN ROAD!
my friend who was with me at the time remained calm and told me to chuck my hazard lights on and pop my hood again, he ran to the front, shoved the block back in and told me to start it, fortunately it did..
I'm thinking that the ECU thought there was an oil leak or battery fail (hence the lights) which was forcing hot air into the intake (since i was driving with a hole in my intake), so it shut off automatically?
So i ended up getting the bathroom plug to replace the block, with the hole covered, didn't sound as deep as an open hole.
Overall conclusion: Not worth doing.
defcon's modification of removing the resonator looks much more effective for a cheap substitute for a loud intake.

Guys...earlier this year, i called up Lexus to enquire about the tip. they are $230 EACH!
thought it wasnt really worth the money and hence not going for it. But just a heads up to those that are thinking of doing this mod

Simon! That must have scared the sh*t outta ya! Like some of the brissie boys suggested I removed my intake resonator and it is loud as! I never had any problems with error lights etc. It is a cheap alternative to a short ram intake. And its quite loud 3000rpm and up. So I reckon u go for that option. It won't cost you a cent(unless you don't have the tools)
On another note with error lights; if anyone gets a ethrottle booster make sure you secure it well. I got lazy and had the box sitting on the platform just above the pedals and it rolled around and slipping out of it's connectors. Result; VSA light and check engine light. Once I pushed the connectors back in the lights were off.
Note for anyone who does the resonator removal then goes to cai. The cai is definately not as loud as short ram or with the resonator removed but you do feel the difference in acceleration in mid revs and high revs.

Wohoo cant wait to install mine this week... just finished with exams... But looking at the roads in Sydney these days are scary with all the huge puddles of water everywhere! make me want to install the short ram instead....

hey, guys. wat brands of ethrottle boosters r u using? r they good for fuel consumptions as well ?
want one of those hood lift dampers for my cu2, don't seem to exist, there are plenty hood dampers for jazz and civic, not cu2, the closest one i can find on ebay is american 1st gen tsx ones, dont think they'll fit though. any ideas ?

Hey mate I'm using a buddyclub ethrottle and honestly don't drive much without it. In regards to fuel consumption I have my set on pretty high so I hit 3000rpms quickly but I havent notice any effects on fuel consumption. As with hood lift dampers I haven't seen any for our cu2s and I'm pretty sure the gen 1 tsx or cl9 wouldn't suit our cu2

TONY! haha same goes to me too mate, resonator removal FTW! haha.
springs just arrived at my door today, will install them next week most likely, so look out for photos
future mods after springs installed: fog lights (with H.I.D conversion), some sort of after market rims, then finally mugen replica lip kit and grill.

Yewww!!! Haha...yeah at uni cramming right now ...but can't wait to see the mods come together man!...Hopefully I have the time to organise the installation of the Mugen kit these holidays too
edit: I was considering springs but I'll probably won't get it...I have enough troubles getting up my gay driveway everyday I take the CU2 out haha
