The fact of the matter is not everyone can fork out a good 5k just for a FI setup outta nowhere, majority of the people who just got their cars will look into the most basic mods like intake and exhaust. Even if he does go with a i/h/e setup that will set him back what 2.5 - 3k still 2k under a bolt on turbo/sc. Even if he were to find a second hand kit he still needs the exhaust, and if he goes with sc he will still need the header and the exhaust so there really is no harm in buying it when you think about it.
I agree with this, but also disagree, to some degree. Have I said gree enough yet?
YOu can pick up a used Comptech / Vortech kit for about $2500 these days.
Bolt on 250whp stock boost no other mods.
After having both, I'd rather have FI with stock I/H/E (250whp) than a baller I/H/E (210whp if lucky). $ per gains FI will always win. We all know this.
But, as Vyets said, there is also no harm in buying a good quality brand name I/H/E in the short term, as it will only help long term if one decides to go FI.

that's the thing man, if someone is gonna go FI they aint gonna run stock header + exhaust that's just stupid, so they gonna need it anyway. Fi kits are so cheap these days really making me considerr LOLL
