CD5 Clutch and Shocks

Today my Mechanic told me my Clutch and shocks were on the way out and have about 6-12 months life left in them. So as I've got a bit of time I wanna shop around for the best deals. Due to my exchanging I.T work for his labour I've got the labour costs pretty much sorted. So I'm trying to get this done for about $800-$1000.

Clutch,
Is a heavy duty clutch necessary? I have no engine mods (excluding just a pod filter). I got a quote on a standard Exedy for $200, My brother suggests a Sports Clutch, what advantage would that have?

Shocks
No idea on this one apart from that I want to lower the car, so I'll do it all in one hit. I want to lower it just a little bit to minimize the giant gap between the wheel and the body but I still want to keep it comfortable, not stiff.

Anyways, Input appreciated and while I've got this thread, I'll ask one further question. Anyone want to sell my their Stock CD5 Spoiler =)

for the clutch, simple answer - no, heavy duty not necessary but prob a good idea if u like to drive "spirited".
and for shocks theres a lot of range to choose from, i wouldnt go oem replacement or el cheapo, spesh if u wanna lower it. i've got Koni streets on my cd5 with stock springs atm, sits bout half inch lower than stock with good comfort.
ive heard of people doing a KYB shocks/King spring combo with good results.
or you could scrounge around on ebay nd find some more quality products such as

just a few to get you started, best thing is to research review etc. find out which combo would suit you better

this one is the King spring with Koni STR.t shocks (custom catback scraped on speed bumps, nice cornering but still some body roll, kings arent very stiff springs) http://s575.photobucket.com/albums/s...032_edited.jpg

unfortunately haven't got any recent photos, might be taking some next week. but basically Konis with stock springs sits a fair bit higher and has a lot of body roll.

When I replaced my clutch early 2009, I used:
Exedy HCK-6521 OEM Replacement Clutch Kit

It still feels good. I don't think that any heavier clutch is needed if you've only got bolt ons like me

I'm not sure what state you're in but if it helps I paid $270 from ABS Adelaide (08 8231 3891). Some other responses to the OEM vs something heavier question can be found at:

about two years ago i installed a oem Exedy clutch in mine, now it starts to slip at WOT but only in the mid range where the power is.
so its starting to wear, and once they start they dont take long, but if you drive around nice and slow you'll be fine with an oem

oh_yeahbah - you posted the same picture twice, which one is which? is that with kings and stock shocks or the other setup?

sits pretty nice IMO, been wanting to lower my car so might look into it...
