from here its exactly the same - the way to plug the wire. Just got mine (2004/Euro) done yesterday. Need bit of times to remove the console stuff (took around 45minutes or an hours to get all the things done).

    Hope tis helps.

When plugged in it simulates being a CD changer so you can control it from the head unit by selecting CDC. Playing from an SD card, CD1 is the root directory & CD2/3/4/etc are the first 8 subdirectories it finds. I think you can have 99 songs in each directory. The 9 CD, 99 song per CD limitation is on the part of the head unit's display capabilities. The most I've had is maybe 60 songs in one directory which worked OK. Swapping from song to song, cd to cd is near instantaneous, certainly faster than a regular CD, so I don't see that delay issue someone reported earlier. It has memory, so next time you start it up it carries on from where it left off.

Plugging my phone in to the line in jack (and pressing "RPT" on the head unit so I can hear it) also gave excellent quality. It's great to be able to listen to podcasts & internet radio while driving.

My main purpose of getting it was to use it to connect up my Tomtom. I have the audio connected and also the USB just to power the Tomtom. Unfortunately the 5v coming out of the units USB socket isn't clean as it could be so when I do use it to power the Tomtom while listening to audio there is a noticeable whine (which I don't get if I unplug the 5v). I am going to try building some sort of filter (I'm an electronics engineer), make a separate clean 5v feed or as a last resort go back to using the cigarette lighter.

Lastly the quality of the build is fine, pretty good for something from China bought on eBay. Fitting it was easy as any other. I notice Honda haven't left much clearance around the connector on their head unit, so you have to make sure the cable is folded out the way pretty tightly. I put the unit in the glove box as I didn't want to drill any holes anywhere, and this works well for me.
FYI, I just bought one of these too. Works great and install. Thanks for the heads up.

I've just installed xcarlink into my 06 Accord Euro with Sat Nav.

I used this install guide ... it was accurate and worked a treat.

    Good luck ...

Actually ... I have a couple of xcarlink questions that need answering.

With the Accord Sat Nav model .... you don't have the buttons 1-5 below the stereo to scroll through the xcarlink folders. How do you do this on the Sat Nav Model ?

Also, how does the unit present info when you have a SD card & USB stick plugged in at the same time ? Does it read both at the same time or what ?

ok so its all installed now, working good. i followed this tutorial:

    http://www.civinfo.com/wiki/index.ph...in_2007_Accord

only thing is, i only reconnected 4 plugs into my dvd, couldnt find the fifth, and cant remember if i even disconnected a fifth.

only issue after install aswell is the fuel usage thing jumps .3 every 5 or so seconds when the car is at stand still? Anyone know if this is at all related to the xcarlink install i.e. me unplugging or messing around with something that i shouldnt be?

apart from that, it works a treat and am very happy with it.

I've got the same setup (04 euro + iphone4) and just bought a Dice unit for my car, and very happy with it. Cost me about $170 landed from ebay. It allows you to flick through songs with your steering wheel buttons and headunit, or by controlling it directly on the iphone at the same time. You don't have to muck around with playlists or anything. The unit has further navigation capabilities if connected to later model headunits that support text etc, but in the 04 euro it's a bit more limited. Never tried the x carlink, but would recommend the Dice unit from my recent experiences.

if you're looking for the xcarlink, i purchased mine from ebay from this seller. They also have a bluetooth unit that plugs into the xcarlink unit. Pauses music and plays conversation through car audio, comes with a mic too.

i've got an old ipod nano plugged into my 05, works with iphone 3/4. i have a light hiss, only audible when volume is at 0.

You can navigate the playlist with numbers 5 and 6 on the radio preset/disc stacker numbers. As well as steering wheel controls press to skip track and hold down to scrub songs.
