It didnt clunck, but it was getting notchy.
But could it be that the oil can cause a clunk? i mean its the right thickness... mechanically it wouldnt make sence, would it ?
It has been consistent. When i push the car it doesnt happen, but when i go slowly it doesnt.
    It stopped happening today tho.

The mechanic suggested that some steering/pinion thing was out of alignment in the gearbox, and it would need to be reshimmed. But its cheaper to replace it.
    Is that valid/possible?

The clunk : It stopped sounding so metalic now, the vibration only happens when it clunks. Its the frequency of the clunk propergating, it goes awa very quickly as the energ disipates. It doesnt come when i reverse. Clunk is not related to speed, it only happens when in gear or disengaging the gearbox.

I did a test to check the engine mounts by yanking my handbrake up and putting it into fwd / reverse and commencing a hill start to check for engine tilt. Looks fine!

PS Fuzionz thanks so much for your brain time!
