    D16 mini me into EG8

    [/IMG]hey guys,
my first honda, have been posting on noob but got advised to start 1 thread here.

    i have eg8 vei 5 spd. originally d15z1.
i tried puttting a y4 out of ek in, doesnt work easily.
    now i am assembling a y4 block with a y1 vtec head.
any advice on this build and installation would be fantastic, any problems especially
i have searched and found lots of info, however i am wondering :
what timing belt i use in this combination? a y1 or y4 belt
on the original z1 there is a step up valve on the inlet manifold, do i transfer this to the y1 manifold?
as there is no egr on y1 like the z1 can i leave this connector unpluged or do i have to do more?
i can get the ecu from the vti, however it is automatic.
does the ecu from vti have different maps to standard ecu, or are thet the same?

    thank you for your help.

I wouldn't go through the trouble personally, there is a y8 from an em1 i think at hi-power racing, check to see if it still there, it was only a couple hundred last time i checked.

I haven't done or know anyone who done this combo but sounds straight forward

Possibly the charcoal purge valve at the back of the intake manifold with the white plug? I haven't seen EGR around here before. if the y1 manifold doesn't have it, ecu doesn't need it/has not pinout, i would worry

The auto ecu i am quite sure will not work as it requires certain signals from the auto trans for its full capabilities and fault-less operation.

I would say you would need a Y1 manual ECU, surf around for prices. ECU-MAN can help you with a refurbished one, you might even be able to get the auto ecu chipped to suit.

    goodluck

    hey,
dont know if i have not read it before or just overlooked it, but
when you put a vtec head y1 on non-vtec block y4, is there a plug that has to be removed from the block to allow oil to flow for vtec?

    picked up the p28 today.
    installed and car runs great.
just have to sort out the 02 sensor, i just have it disconnected atm.
does anyone know what the redline on a vti tacho is? mine being vei redlines just about 6000rpm. does it matter to the tacho if the car is auto or manual? (can i put a cluster from a auto into a manual) can i seperate the tacho from the rest of the cluster as my speedo only has 188xxxkm.
will the speed sensor from an ek work in an eg, or must i install my original sensor. (my gearbox is from an ek, and speedo does not work)
