    Dizzy/ICM issues - integra vtir

    Hey Guys,

My dizzy was rebuilt/reconditioned about 3000km ago by the previous owner and yet im getting an erratic tacho reading during accelertaion, particularly after 5000rpm and it started to misfire last night at high rpm. It doesnt stall on idle but does dip down to about 500rpm. It also feels like it doesn't want to rev as freely as it use to.

I've done some serahcing and im not sure if the ICM is the problem or if my dizzy is stuffed??

Any help would be appreciated. Im gonna go back to the guys that rebuilt/reconditioned the dizzy as they gave a two year warranty, hopefully they will fix it under warranty.

I'd check the spark plugs first just because they're easier things to manage. Have you had a look at them yet?

    can you define rebuilt.

that could mean a combination of many things. If they changed the ICM and coil then you have a case, if by rebuilt they repaired the failed bearing and used the exsisting ICM and Coil then you might not have a case. Comon cause for your symptom is the ICM, check your ECU for code 15.

ok i had this problem also, open up the unit and make sure all the connection are tightly crimped.
Recrimp with some long nose pliers the ends and make sure they are really tight fitting.
Most prob that will solve your prob.

Reason is that sometimes the connectors come abit loose and at high RPM not getting a good signal.
At low RPM your getting enough signal so it doesn't seem like a problem

    Cheers for the reply guys.

I'm not sure exactly what was rebuilt or replaced when the dizzy was overhauled. I'll double check the spark plugs again and make sure there arent any loose wires...after that i might have to take it back to the auto electrician who orginally serviced it. I don't know enough to start playing around with the dizzy. haha
