    Thats weird. I tried Shannons also, but the quote was a lot higher than that. I am 30 with a good driving record and have never made an insurance claim. Car is garaged and mine is a 99 model also.

    Ended up going with GIO for 900pa with a silly excess of 1500 or so. Was the cheapest out of about 10 companies.

    AAMI (who I had been with for many years) wanted 2800 and would only cover a value of 14900...WTF!

    Hmm... I'm with AAMI, pay $850p.a. with the flexi premium excess $500 +$150 = $650, car valued at $25k with mods... garaged, 25 y.o with a few of claims. hahaha

    How many cars do you have with them ncmx5?

    I have 5, & I am the only driver of 4 of them. Perhaps they are working on the idea that I can only drive one at a time.

    If I have someone else drive one of them, to take 2 to a show, the excess goes up ANOTHER $1500 on the one driven by an unlisted driver.

    I also noticed that the Mazda 2, which has my wife & I as drivers costs $150 more to insure, for a $5000 lower value.

    What's the point of having comprehensive if excess is over 1000? The only real thing it will be useful for is theft, which most 3rd partys cover to 15 - 20g. AAMI gave me a similar offer. About 1.7 premium and close to a grand excess. We have 3 other cars with them. Made a claim of theft prior to the S and it passed. But that was once out of about 10 years of insuring with them. I told them to suck it and went with NRMA 3rd party. Sure it's a risk, but that ought to teach 'em ! :P

    NRMA is cheap...

    Prem = $970
    Excess = $600
    Value = $24,800.

    I was cheering

    you can try just car insurance... maximise the excess amount to lower your annual premium. if you use this strategy, just keep in mind your excess will be about 2.5k to claim, annual premium will be around 1k

    it will be cheaper considering you dont nominate yourself as a driver BUT if you make a claim and your at fault youll have to pay an 'age excess' on top of your basic excess since ur under 25. my policy age excess is 1600 (NRMA)
