I looked at the stock airbox and its like silly straw before it even reaches the panel filter. It looks very restricting.

The replacement standard panel filters and were like $40-60. So i might as well get something thats re-washable and sounds better. The gruppe M looks neat but way to expensive.
Alternatively buy a k&n drop in panel and remove the bottom section (there's 3 sections in the stock airbox) of the air box using a dremel, just cut along the line... That way no more restrictive race track which the air needs to be sucked through, still looks legal (filter is now exposed but only if you look from under the car), more induction noise and still mounts neatly..

Down side is you need to modify the stock airbox, and it doesn't look as cool as if you were to had CF parts in your engine bay...
