If you can find an Integra Type R gearbox for 1.3 or 1.5k get that, better ratios but still majorly the same.

meatball's previous car EH9 had a B18C2 I/H/E with B16A gearbox, bro that car was of its nuts, well mainly because of the dude who built it ,

    good luck.

b18 gearbox is fine, youd probably be spending an extra 1k for the b16 gearbox. I would only use b16 gearbox if you were doing a Hswap. Then it would be more worth while

If you looked around for a bit you should be able to find a jdm b18 for the same price as a b18c2, or maybe a tiny bit more. jdm b18 has higher compression ratio...more power output.

If Honda put the B16A ratios into the B18C box, the Type-R's performance would be far less impressive

If you have a bit more cash up front, get the ITR S80 box. You'll be kicking yourself down the line when you want that LSD.

The B18C box has the same 1-2 ratios as the non-VTECs. 3.23 first, 1.9 second. It's a big drop and it sucks. The VTEC boxes have a 2.105 second.*

*by memory, so I might be off.

    This is man knows it.

I love the itr gearbox on my B18C2, all gears don't drop before vtec and it climbs to top rpm quicker.

B16A gearbox is another alternative, only difference is I believe that the ITR gears/syncros are stronger built, so it can take abit of bashing.

How does the B16a2 head compare to B18c2 head? in terms of performance and flow, if its pretty much similar, than id say the only thing ur really paying for is the extra 200cc block

I do believe the B16a2 has a rougher power curve than B18, but the power comes on alot stronger once the Vtec is engaged, hence a louder induction noise.

I heard vaguely that the B16A head flows better (intake & exhaust), but don't really have any evidence or recollection of the resource...

The B18C2 head has a slightly smaller combustion chamber so for the same block you'll get a slight increase in compression.

If you're doing a B20VTEC you'd probably just get whatever is cheapest. If you're using the whole motor, you'd be crazy not to take a free 200cc. No replacement for displacement.
