Tip for Bumper and Mirror Re-spraying

Done with the mechanical stuff, but now I am looking to give exterior sometime.
Front bumper and mirrors paint look really bad, so i decided to paint them.
What are some tips and How to do it? I will use spray can not compressor.
Should sand it down to be so smooth, clean it from dust grease and dirt.
what should i do after ?

There's a few threads on this already mate.

Sand down, prime it, then paint. Some people use hi-fill (?sp).
