    Cool The first k-swapped s2000???

Found this while I was sposed to be studying lol. An interesting read. Some of you may have seen it, but at the time it was posted, this guy claimed to have the first k24a-powered s2000. Pretty cool! I put it in here since theyre using our engine (or a variant of it at least). Have a read...

thanks to all my sponsors for helping to make this project possible and the first K swapped s2000

    Update 06.13.2010
K guys, just talked to Honda Tuning and they said I can give you a little more info about the project and a better picture, so I will do my best to try and answer a few of your questions here.

    COST:
When I started the project I sold off the OEM F20c, my Hondata Kpro, and my Mugen Exhaust netting me about $3600

I took that money and was able to buy the new Kpro, my K24a1, and all the needed parts so i could fab everything up to work together with the s2000 transmission and electronics. (I would also like to note that all of this was paid for before I had sponsors on board.)

From there I figured I was basically at the same point, cost wise, as I was with the F I took out of my car. Then I spent a little money adding parts to the motor (but was able to avoid the cost of sleeving the motor) to get the numbers you will see below... but I believe that even a stock K24 will yield more TQ than the F20.

    POWER:
This seems to be the other main concern, I am very happy with what I was able to achieve. The car is running an OEM s2000 header that was modified by me and some friends to get the car going (meaning that I can guarantee our work to it not helping the power band). There is talk that the S2000 drive-train has something like a 20-25% drive-train loss compared to the FWD platforms having 10-15%. Either way I think there is a lot of room for improvement with this motor throughout the whole powerband.

The green is my F20c at its best numbers on the same dyno we used yesterday. The red is my K24.

The F20 was Kpro, J's Intake, Mugen Exhaust, Test pipe, and some other random bolt on's

And for those wanting a better pic... here is one of the bay

    Go K24!
Straight lines love fast cars. Hard corners love fast drivers.

Crashed / shit itself. One or the other I forget.

There's another 1 or 2 out there aswell that I might be getting confused with, but I'm like 90% sure this particular one is no more.

Hey ludacrs, did you ever consider an engine swap in your s2k? In hindsight would you have ever swapped a k24 in?

I like the look of that intake manifold.

But, the F20c might be "old" compared to the k-series, but considering all the bits and pieces you would need to change just to get the car running, for one the throttle body faces the firewall, meaning you have to make a custom manifold, forced induction is going to be a better option... or 2j

For a drag car the 2jz might work, but on a track car a big heavy straight 6 would make the car nose heavy and would ruin the 50/50 weight distribution. An s2000 doesn't need 500hp to be fast round a track.

Very Very interesting!!! Does the Stock F20 put our more power than the K24 stock?

Good trying something different, but i defs wouldnt be in a Rush to try this out, even with sponsors, etc!!

k24 has alot more potential when kept N/A.. and all the aftermarket support that K-series have. alot more then the F-series.

end of the day its 2.4L v 2.0L.. put a k20a head on, and your loving life

even tho the stock k24a has 147kw (or there abouts)
    compared to the f20c 172kw...

then theres the torque out of a k24
    snapping 2nd..

Also consider that the K24 is a "eco-tuned" engine, where as the F20 is a "sports-tuned" engine.

Change the VTC from 25' to a 50' in the K24, and you'll already see decent gains... that's before you touch anything else!

Alot of the time attack S2k's that run in Japan use a forced induction F20 or F22... and they are amongst the fastest out there.
