    Any info on these S2000's?

    Hey guys,

I just sold my car last night and now I'm after a S2000

I've been looking at carsales (big brother style) for the past few months and I've decided that I would like a black one!

So, I was wondering if anyone had any info on these two s2000's?

Good thing about those two are that they both have the glass roof and seem pretty stock.
Although the owner of the model with 70,000km has said that he has full log books, is 70,000km too good to be true? Is it possible to check for a cluster swap? :S

I've read through the checklist on s2ki a few times but does anyone have any other tips when looking to buy a s2000?

Any input will be much appreciated

For the 2nd one, the owner mentioned it wasnt on Revs. I'd be abit cautious on that aspect. Test drive a few cars before commiting, I test drove 3 cars before I bought mine and I'm glad I did, cos you get an indication of whats normal and whats not. .

One thing I highly recommend, in the boot, remove the toolbox and the trimming there and see if theres any rust on the metal surface itself. Check the upholstery to see if its damp or wet. That will indicate if its a leaky car. I found mine out the hard way

Theres heaps of threads around on what checks to look for in the S2k. Also, I remembered reading one of the threads that theres some S2k owners in Sydney who are happy to tag along and check the car out with you. Sadly, not much in Perth here when I bought mine..

    Thanks Davion,
Yeah with the second car, i spoke to the owner on the phone and he said he's got logbooks and its not on revs (although I will recheck for my self). But something about those pictures make me think 70,000km seems too good to be true...........

And when the time comes, hopefully I can get some ozhonda members to come along with me

what's wrong with 70,000kms? Mine's a 99 and only have 65,000kms... Seat bolsters look battered though, and the gear surround on the centre console looks funny.

What should the centre console look like?
Hopefully ill be able to take it to hanny's or something for a check up beforehand.
Around how much do you guys think i should be paying for those cars?

It does sound like it has happened in some cars, but No it is not normal.

The gear surround on early S2000s is thin metal coated in a kind of lacquer. This finish very quickly wears off and becomes patchy. Many of us have given the metal a once over with rubbing alcohol to remove the lacquer and give a shiny finish.

Make sure you do a vehicles check http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/myrta/rego...ory-check.html

Best $18 you will ever spend. Most cars that are from interstate won't show up on REVS, the RTA vehicles check show you if it was damaged interstate.

Welcome sekii, lower kms on an S2000 isn't uncommon as quite often it is someones weekend car. hence the low kms.
I agree above with the water in boot. I also found out the hard way but a little TLC and is all fine. fortunately I found it before it was too late.

I drove 3 aswell. I started with a mint one with really low kms. and was a really high price but i wanted to see a really good example before looking at anything else.
the guy selling it was the only owner for 10 years and it was in beautiful condition.

then i drove the crappest one i have ever seen. (was on here and carsales) was a repaired write off etc. only really looked at it after i spoke to him on the phone and he sounded desperate to sell and offered a really low price. but i would have spent more getting it back to a "nice" condition.

    then found mine.

buy the best one you can afford!
