S2000 Gearbox issues / plug threading rounded.

We always here legends shrouded in mist of jacks collapsing on someone but often think of it as an urban myth. But last year an S2000 owner in the US and active member of S2Ki was killed when his car collapsed on him whilst working on the rear end.

Oh MY! what caused it? was he relying on a jack? did he have stands? that scares me from trying to do the work now. i'm worrying that my clutch might be on its way as well. when im reversing mainly i notice that the clutch is trying to grip but it stutters i don't know if it is a warn out slip or just a i'm releasing the clutch incorrectly slip. only a couple of times i noticed it when going from launch. sometimes when i'm quick shifting from redline 1st gear to 2nd and dumping it, i dont know if its a wheel spin or if its the clutch slipping. kind of feels like a slight wheel spin with no chirping. this car is costing me soo much

i am in love with his car! the rear end is just fantastic. i want to get those same rear lip? strake? valance? don't know what their correct term is.

I often work under my car with the front or back on jacks. I have a hard and level concrete floor in my garage but still from now on I will chock the front wheels when working under the rear and use the handbrake when working under the front.

Snap-on stuff is great quality but very pricey. I have a set of the blue and white jack stands but not sure what capacity.

ohh nah i know the J's Racing Diffuser, but i meant the ones on the rear corners? are they a lip? under spoiler? something like that, i've heard them being called like ten different things. i can't justify 1200 dollars for the diffuser just yet, got more important things to do first. but i wouldn't mind those lips and rear spoiler.

and that is really upsetting RIP Paul. it really scares me now. what if i get 4 stands and not rely on the jack at all? is that an alot more stable option?

Thank you for the fantastic service. I will let you know if i have any issues. Just need to get them put in. GOing to get Essendon Honda to do it. I don't want to wait to buy a jack and stands and do it all my self. 280 dollars, but atleast i know the pros are doing it. Well hopefully 'pros'

I used to work on my brake calipers using just a trolley jack. Stopped doing that when the jack went down by 10cm while I was working! Never again! I use jackstands now.
