Thanks mate, i just sanded it with some 100 grit sandpaper, i think it was emery sandpaper but ill check when i get home from work, i was going to polish it but after sanding it sorta looks like brushed aluminium and i liked it so decided to leave it like that need to make sure you use a solid sanding block if you do it so the letters dont get rounded/smoothed off edges.

Heres a pic of the block i used and the type of sandpaper, its abrasive emery cloth 100 grit, got it from bunnings and the sanding block was purchasched from super cheap auto.

Moar painting engine bits, this time im trying plastic, moved onto painting the timing cover and oil dip stick. Decided to hide some of the cables around the drivers side strut tower, will try and clean up the passenger side at some stage but its full of AC and PS lines so dont think i can move them too easily lol.

Thanks mate ive been using the d series to practice painting and hiding wires so i got some experience for when i do an engine swap later on down the track. Ive been enjoying working on the ek, great car for diy'ing.
Put my headers back on after waiting for a week and a bit for a gasket from the US. Blew out the gasket that joins the 2 piece headers together on a mountain run on mount Nebo.

Thanks for the pic and advice, I'm very impressed and really really liking that brushed alloy look - much better than what the stock looks like - excellent looking engine bay too

Yeah Ek4 Um 190xxx on the clock, a little high, but it was well maintained, so should be pretty right. It's stock as a rock, which is good, at least i know some fan boy hasn't thrashed the Shit out of it xD

Probably due for a major service, so I guess just get everything checked out if the previous owner hadn't given it a 200k service.
Hey - also noticed you say you have a 95 EK4 - any pics you can show us?
