Hey guys need someone who's good with tyres to help me out lol
My friend got some rims for the fd 18x8+45 with 235/45/18 and the tyres are chunky to the point where they hit the strut of the front. Would it better to get new tyres eg. 225/45/18 or 215/40/18 and chuck on like 5mm spacers as its going to be lowered on springs or just run larger spacers and roll the guards? Thanks in advance

i reckon get stretched tyres (225's should do it) and roll the guards, don't run spacers

225/40? Its so close to the strut, went for a test drive..... and couldnt get out of the driveway.

For 18" rims you should be running 40 profile tires not 45. Your speedo will be way off and may affect braking. So I think you will need to get new tires if you want to use those rims.

if its just the tyres hitting the strut, then a 215/40 or 215/35 tyre should be sufficient without the use of spacers. they will look pretty sunk, but if u dont care about stance then it will be fine. if ur afraid that the rim itself will hit the strut, then u could opt for a spacer as well.

Hm... 215/40 and 5mm spacer doesnt sound bad either. Just want to make sure it works so it doesnt cause more trouble

heard bad things about spacers lol i'd stay away from them T_T

i ran 5mm slip spacers.. no problems =] they were custom made to the hub size tho..
just have to insure that the nuts are on tightly.. and there is no gap..
also.. the only upgrade would be extended lug nuts.. and open ended kicz nuts to finish it off
