    Smooth K20 Swap?

    Hi guys,

I have been in 2 K swapped cars (K20A CRX and K24/20 EG).
Both used hasport mounts, but the cars vibrated so bad that the dash was shaking at idle.

Anyway, is it possible to do a K swap but keep a "factory" feel without too many vibrations?

    Thanks

Hasport mounts use solid bushes to mount the motor unlike factory mounts. The k swapped dc2 I went in had no shaking at idle or even though the rev range

When ordering hasport mounts you can order different "shores" in the mounts. I think 70a being the softest. These would be what you'd want

I am not doing a conversion, I was just wondering out of curiosity.
So, the softest mounts will offer a factory type of smoothness?
    Is a K20 a smooth engine?

This. The other guy has no idea. Hasport mounts WILL VIBRATE. Its really not that bad man. and also the softest i believe is 62A. I have 62A in my DC5.

its the nature of the engine layout - DC5/EP3 etc have a liquid filled mount to help cancel out vibrations (drivers side) - no such place for this on the DC/EK/EG/ED etc chassis.

I noticed with k20a vibrates alot more over a stock k24. K24 engines runs balance shafts in there oil pump which helps eliminate vibration from the engine hence a smoother idle/low end rpms. In our K24 DC2 road car you dont even notice it has a k24, idles nicely and drives like any other motor of course the tune has to be good to get that smoothness.

no doubt because it comes from purely a passenger car (IE comfort is essential) !
