It's wrong that they say nominal. it can't be nominal for B18C1 and B18C5 to have 270. the C5 is meant to have more compression than the C2. but the max/min/variations are correct.

yeah that is correct. every different engine is meant to run a different compression as different engines have different compression ratios.
in response to leakdown tests, it is a good idea for further investigation if you're getting low compression numbers, but you need a compressor, leakdown tester (online order) and a fitting to link the hose to the spark plug holes.
or you can pay a shop to do it. however, I don't know about you guys but personally I don't trust any shops here in canberra for shit. always do a shit job or give my car back damaged or both. also there are HEAPS of dodgy mechanics (in canberra at least) that will tell you false things to try make money off you.
if it ever comes to a point where I need a leakdown, I think I will try source the compressor, tester etc. myself. but right now I don't think it's necessary.
