you have the same problem i had weeks ago,bought the car with no signs of wear and tear on the gearbox only to figure the gears were slipping,i got my box rebuilt at hanny's performance, it was not money friendly either fetched me back almost 2.5k.
If you do go ahead and rebuild the box,drive it safely i guess and try not to thrash through the gears using tip tronic...as that what probably causes most these boxes to destroy themselves,also make sure you check up and regularly change your fluids/oils etc...goodluck mate.
Really damn same prob as mine just got quoted $1750 for second hand unit and $2900 for full rebuilt including installation warranty etc, so probably will go with this one as im going to be keeping the car for a while, I dont see a problem with the box if its done properly and ofcourse not driven like an idiot, but still should be able t shift up and down and have some fun without problems. Wil let you know how it all goes, cheers tony
