Post Synchrotech Gear Synchro - Integra TYPE R BOX

Alright, Got myself a type r integra. Drove it and the Third gear was feeling a tad weak when i was punching it (Just the crunch of a Synchro on its way out).

    Options:

    1. Replacing 3 & 4th gear synchro with Synchrotech's product (Carbon lined Synchro)
    2. Replacing 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th gear synchro's with Synchrotech's product (Carbon lined Synchro)

Below is the description of what the Carbon-Lined synchro's achieve.

    #
New Carbon fiber lining – A full carbon lining instead of just a coating.
    #
Stronger Brass body - The Brass body has been upgraded to a stronger Japanese Brass composition
    #
Improved lock angle - The lock angle has been changed to aid in higher RPM shifts
    #
More surface contact - The inner carbon ridges have twice the surface contact (like putting bigger brakes on the gear)

Can anyone back this up for me, good product or one you wouldn't spend 2 minutes looking at?

im just wondering about why do you need carbon lined synchros?
most of the wear on synchros are on the engagement teeth and it's still brass on those carbon synchros.

your option 1 is probably not just synchros but you might also need synchro sleeve, hub and 3rd or 4th gear itself.
best to open the box and see where the damage is.

i think EG30 had shifting issue and he only replaced the synchros he didn't replace the sleeve and hub too, problem came back after a while.
he should be able to confirm.

Just an option I found and what I was reading said the carbon lined synchros are the best lol.. Needing other options if there is any one out there

I'll look into replacing all of the other parts going with the gears after I open it up I guess

i had the exact issue as u. exactly what mocchi said. i replaced all the parts he listed :3rd n 4th gear synchro, synchro sleeve, hub and 3rd or 4th gear, bearings n fluids.

now the rest of my box was good but i stuck with oem. thats my reccomendation.

theres someone selling the synchros for 250 in the marketplace i think. thats a good start.

Thank you for this, so do you recommend replacing all of the above or just begin with replacing the synchros? Then replace the hub If it needs it later

nope. if your gear is crunching, chances are the rest of the parts gonna need replacing.

put it this way mang. youve got a brand new synchro rubbing and grinding on some old beat up parts. its gonna wear alot quicker and youll have to fork out more.

better off doin all whilst the box is out. your gbox will feel brand new and ull be glad u did everything.

Change the complete hub + hub sleeve selector + synro. This will ensure the problem wont occur.

Alright got it! Appreciate the help fellas so next step is just go with all oem parts or is there a decent company whom makes good synchros

You guys think it is necessary to replace other gears also even if they arnt crunching (do gears tend to blow out one after the other)

Sweet, I guess that will work lol it isnt like me to have a punt in 5th gear or reverse for that matter so I like the sounds of 1-4th gear synchro and hub/gear rebuild
