    K-pro and ECU choice

Hey guys, Its not settled yet, but I may soon be in posession of a DC5S (yeha!!!!!!!)
Now, its an 05 that im looking at. As such, Its VERY unlikely that I can KPRO its ECU.

HOWEVER, would any PRD ECU work, as long as the correct map was loaded?
Such as one out of a 2003 civic type r (ep3)? (i may have the ability to get one)

Kpro software lists the TypeS as PRB (the USA RSX-S uses this) would I just load this one onto the PRD?

Obviously I have to disable the imobiliser option.

I know i'm way ahead of myself, I may not even end up with the car, but I'm exremely excited about the Kseries and have been studying everything i can.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Scythe.

You can KPRO your DC5S. You'll need a PRB ECU to be modifed by Hondata, in addition a jumper harness to make it plug and play. You'll also require a DC5R Primary 02 sensor to replace the dc5s primary o2.

Further to what Jimmy has said,
You could use the PRD, but you'll need to send it to Rev-Zone or a US supplier to have the K-Pro board fitted.
Also you will need a jumper harness:

    Re imobiliser,
The PRD is not fitted with this function.
To eliminate green blinking light you'll need to unplug the green plug from the imobiliser sensor on the steering column.
having no imobiliser also means your fuel pump relay trigger wire will have to be repinned to suit the PRD.

    Argh, crap.

Reading that link on the harness, I have to have OBDII disabled?
If I recall correctly, thats the entire OBD system that stops, not just part, isnt it? So i cant have it hooked up to my car PC to check on 'how its doing'?
Or is it simply the emissions checking that disables with the kpro?

And yeah, i plan to send it to the USA. our dollar rocks, and I have many friends over there who can handle postage and be a middle man for me.

Unless one of the aussie shops wants to knock a little cash off and be competitive. It'd be nice to keep the money in the country :P

    Thats a great idea actually.
Hondata seems to only have the upper hand because its a lot cheaper in the USA.

Quick question, if i find a used Haltech Platinum PRO ECU, does it matter which car its for?

    Is every connector different?
And even if they are, can i use the DC5 earlier one and just make sure i upload the correct basemap before starting the car?

I'd like to buy second hand if i could.

It does matter which model you get
Or you'll have issues (Speedo, temp guage, fuel level etc)
