    Clutch problem??

When my cars idling, theres a kinda metallic grindnig sound, bit hard to explain. but when i push the clutch in, sound goes away and the car sounds like it should. let clutch go again, and sound comes back.

Basically just wanna know what the problem could be, if anyone has had it before, and if anyone knows what and how much i could be up for.

    thanx

could also be your thrust bearing or input shaft beairng, but if it was either of those they make more of a squeeky rattling noise rather then a grinding metal noise...

    I second that.

ALso with the ISB.......when you disengage the clutch......the noise will fade out slightly.

i think your clutch has had it. could the flywheel be warped and need machining?

He said the car drives fine, if the clutch has had it, the car would slip badly and in a few days no longer be drivable. You dont get strange sounds from this being worn out. Most likely its a transmission problem, and it could be a problem with your differential or input shaft. Whatever it is will not go away, you can check all possible problems once the tranny is off. check your bearings
