Like most trends they seem to start in the US. (not surprising really). I was actually supporting your choice. The strange thing is the white car actually looks worse than the black one. Maybe it would look better if it had red or blue or pink, purple spotted tyres. But black tyres and black wheels, why bother, but then is that the purpose, to make it look like it's floating in the air.
For me, when someone asks "what wheels do you drive ?", I like to think that the actual wheels are included. Black on black,,,,,,Yuck.

Oh Gord !, I just had a horrible thought. Maybe the next trend in the US will be to bring back wheel "spats" (covers that almost totally obliterate the wheels). One now defunct manufacturer went as far as to cover the front wheels as well. Meant that the body overhung them so much to allow some steering movement (there wasn't much)that they were the most bloated bodies ever built.
