To remove the old silicon use turps(or another sutable solvent) on a rag to rub it off then reapply new silicon to prevent the housing from getting condensation.

hmmm don't own a heater, so i'll just try the oven method, according to youtube preheat oven to 100c then cook for 5 minutes, i'll just keep a close eye on em.

haven't got that far yet, what would you recommend? i heard a bit of lemon in water works well.
