    but just one small question~
how does the ABS engages in drums rather than discs? isn't ABS in role to precent lock-ups? i know roughly how it is engages with discs but how does ABS work in drums?

Its no different, same principle in both cases. The ABS controller modulates the pressure in the brake line to alternate between braking and not braking quickly. With disc brakes the pads move and rub against the spinning rotor. With drum brakes the shoes move out and rub against the inside of the spinning drum.

if im not mistaken, actually drums on the rear are better for city biased cars. on lower speeds, disc or drums on the rear makes not much differences. only during high speed braking does the rear disc have the advantage over drums b'coz the discs dissipate heat better....high speed braking produces massive amounts of heat to the brakes...once the brakes get over-cooked they loose their braking power (brake fade).
in fact, i read somewhere that during average city driving (short distances & stop-start situations), the rear drums work better as they reach optimum operating temperatures faster.

    just my 2 cents....
