Huh? The reason why you add oil in 2 Strokes is because of the way the lubrication system work - i.e. the fuel charge moves around crank shaft before being swept into the combustion cylinder - hence you need oil in the fuel charge to lubricate the rod and shaft bearings.
A 4 stroke system (diesel or petrol) already has oil pumped into the cylinder valve train for lubrication. Adding oil into the intake charge will simply just 1) dilute the fuel 2) gum the intake unnessarily.
Why do some mechanics recommend these dumb thing?
I would say to make the thing break more, so they get more work >.>
