Essentially told to suck it up and be grateful that Honda are trying to get any cars to their customers because it costs them more to get them from Japan. You can tell it wasn't a great customer experience. Kudos to the dealership manager because he called me back from his vacation to listen to my grievances, he is the only guy there who seems to care about customers and getting any repeat business. Honda Australia seem to give their dealers zero backing.

I mentioned the fact that the locking feature was missing on Vibe S models coming in, but was clearly featured on their website and in the brochure. The deputy manager's response was that there would be a disclaimer at the bottom of the webpage saying it's a foreign model or specifications are subject to change, and if I wasn't mentioned in the spec list specifically that I shouldn't expect it to be there. His colleague then piped up as he was checking the website as I was mentioning it and said "it doesn't say anything on the website". So to me that's false advertising and I told him I expected that feature to be in my Vibe S and he'd better go get some compensation from Honda Australia.

All in all by far the worst car buying or any sort of purchase experience I have ever had, and Honda has lost me and my wife as repeat customers.
Hmm... Which dealership is this...? I'm intrigued.. I found out about the locking contract in QLD when I purchased my FD in 2007, I was about to change to VTI from VTI-L but the salesperson told me that there is going to be 10% fee from the final contract price if I want to proceed. I ended up getting my VTI-L since there is no friggin way I would pay it..

What are they offering you as compensation?
Cusco RSB setup and Tein S-Tech for sale

Westpoint Honda in Brisbane. They haven't offered anything in terms of compensation. When I asked to cancel over the weekend I was told by their deputy manager that as there was no delivery date on the contract I could not cancel because the car hadn't been delivered. When I asked at what point does it become a reasonable request to cancel an order he said there was no date so I would have to wait. So when I asked if that meant I could be kept waiting for another 6 months and then I would be expected to accept that delay, the answer I was given was a "yes". That didn't exactly seem fair. Any lo and behold, under Australian law if no date is specified you are allowed to cancel without penalty you can cancel 3 months after the date the contract is signed. He neglected to mention that little nugget of information.

Can you kindly point me to that law please (any web link)? I want to read up to know what consumer rights I have. Many thanks!

    Try these links :

I think the second link in particular offers some scope to put pressure on Honda to sort out the missing central locking button the Vibe S models that have come in recently.
