Changing Old kenwood head unit to new Sony head unit.

Old kenwood head unit was disconnected from all cables to be replaced by sony head unit. One problem, the connector cable's (with with heaps of coloured wiring to it) head is too small to fit into the Sony's head unit. Was provided with the Sony's one, but the head for Sony's connector cable is a bit bigger. Went to look for an 'adaptor' or some sort from Super Cheap Auto but they don't offer any 'adaptor' for pre 2000 honda civics.

u will need to cut the kenwood adapter off and wire it up to the new sony one

Yeh the easiest is just cut the old one off and solder the new loom on

there was a video on youtube from the guys at mighty car mods that teach you how to find out what wires go where if you cant find a wiring diagram (cant seem to find it now!)

if you follow that, soldering a new loom isnt too hard.

I just swapped out a Sony for a Kenwood in a mate's car yesterday. As mentioned above, you should be able to find the owners manual for both by using your google machine. I found this http://ccs.exl.info/radio_wires.html on the first page of google.

If your not fantastic with the soldering iron I would recommend heading down to super cheap and getting yourself something like this: http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/onl...23#Description

By using connectors like the ones above, you eliminate the possibility of getting your left and right/left front/rear speaker connections wrong, if you plug them in and they are incorrect, all you have to do is unplug them and put them where they should be. It will also make life easy if you upgrade to another unit in the future.

Anyone with basic knowledge of car audio should be able to sort something like this out in 1/2 an hour max.
