    Spraying my car

hey just wondering what i have to do to sand down the clear off my car. I want to get it resprayed but the cost is pretty high and i have limited funds therefore want to do some of the prep work myself. So what equipments do i use to sand the clear down? Is that all i have to smooth out in order to spray a fresh layer of paint on? thanks guys

buy yourself some sheets of 600, 800 grit sandpaper

the concept of prepping for a new paint job is to get the clear off, and have the colour underneath consistent and relatively smooth - ie. if you run ur fingers over the whole car, it is matt and smooth

buy wax and grease remover and constantly clean it after each sand.

god damn, is your paint work so bad it need a respray? what colour is it and what is wrong with the paint? can u post some close up pics in full sunlight?

when ur sanding make sure u mask all the plastic strips and bits and chrome strips too, u dont wanna go scratching them.

    use 800 grit wet sandpaper...
use a sanding block as well
when the surface is dull and smooth... its done

rather than masking the strips i would recommend removing them,, makes it easier to sand and the paint job less dodge

I once used a Dremel to sand an EG Hatch. I don't reccomend doing that unless you have a serious lack of life.

    buy about 5-10 sheets

a tub (1L) of wax/grease remover should do it

remember, a paintjob is all in the prepping
