    Talking mods to the DC5R

pardon my lack of knowledge of cars BUT i need to ask about mods for the Type R integra. DC5

just looking at "Bang for your bucks" section. it gives me this bit of information. Just like to ask how much approx. to achieve these mods??Also where can 1 purchase these goodies??
would appreciate your input.. cheers peoples..

High budget – best power delivery
    #1 – Lightweight flywheel (ignor step 1)
    #2 – Heavy-duty clutch
    #3 – Lower final drive
#4 – JDM Intake manifold + CAI only
    #5 – Header + S2000 cat + cat-back system
#6 – Ported head / Spec A2/B/C camshafts / valve springs/ Titanium retainers / adjustable cam gear - exhaust only / fuel pump / Forged pistons / Forged rods (For over 9000rpm) / injectors & fuel pressure regulator / ECU / dyno tuning / heavy duty engine mounts.
Nb: Additional head work that can/may need to be done includes shaving of rocker arms for cam clearance, re-shaping of valves, combustion chamber re-profiling.
Power output: 156+kw @ wheels (Dyno dynamics – shootout)

Your talking big knowledge and also big costs involved in the above modifications. Sadly to hinder the fact your also according to your signature you live in Darwin, and I question the amount of local skill and knowledge in pulling off such a project. If your serious about doing the above modifications I would be looking at sending your car to the best people in the business which would involve sending your car most certainly interstate.

Like anything there are different brands and different options you can go with, some parts work better than others, some cost more than others and don’t work the slightest bit better, brand names were left off the above recommendation on purpose, that should be up to your engine designer and tuner to decide what parts you should use, as he or she should have expert knowledge and know what works, and what doesn’t.. as a general rule budget around the following for all the listed items ( these prices are not absolute just a very rough guide, assuming parts are order purchased from Australian distributors.

    Lightweight flywheel $400 – $650

    Heavy-duty clutch $450 - $900

    Lower final drive $1200 - $1600

    JDM Intake manifold + CAI only $1000 - $1500

    Header + S2000 cat + cat-back system $2200 - $2600

    Ported head $1000 - $1800

    Spec A2/B/C camshafts / valve springs/ Titanium retainers / adjustable cam gear $2400 - $3000

    Fuel pump $350 - $550

    Forged pistons $850 - $1500

    Forged rods (For over 9000rpm) $850 - $1700

    Injectors & fuel pressure regulator $1000 - $1500

    ECU / dyno tuning $2000 - $2500

    Heavy duty engine mounts. $350 - $550

Additional head work that can/may need to be done includes shaving of rocker arms for cam clearance, re-shaping of valves, combustion chamber re-profiling. $1000 - $1500

Then you have all the hidden costs of building an engine like above, a engine like that I would never build unless I also included the following, (Bare in mind the original bang for your buck post was never a absolute quote.. just a idea of what needs to be done )

    New bearings $1000 - $1500

New Gaskets vrs kit bottom end / head $800 - $1400

    Oil pump $500 - $650

    Water pump $300 - $400

    Head studs $250 - $400

    Belts $150 - $200

The above parts alone come to somewhere around $18,000.00 - $26,500.00

Then there’s labor on top of everything…which on a job that size would be also fairly scary, but hell you would have one fast lil DC5 and I would dare to say maybe one of the best in Australia…

    Regards James

umm i mite sound stoopid but yehh wat is a lower final drive..??...

    its just differnt gear ratios.
the lower the drive, the higher the ratio numbers which means the faster accerlation but consequently lower top speed.

hahahaha Yeah you pay $26k for 9 extra kw at the flywheel. Hondas are not an easy machine to work on. You need skill, precision and perfection lol. Its at the wheels you goose. but still youd think for $26k you would have a 10 second car lol. For that money My opinion would lead to Turbocharging your car. Thats just me. lol
