    Lightbulb [DETAIL] Black Alfa Romeo 159 Paint Correction & Protection

    We recently took on this Black Alfa 159.

    After inspecting the car we were shocked to see how many marks we found throughout the paintwork, however this being a second hand car the owner of course didn't cause this. He wanted to bring this beautiful car back to its former glory to follow in taking care of it how it should of been to begin with!

    How we would describe this car in the condition it is in..... Well by the pictures below i think that the image will give a lot more feedback than words for this one. Do remember, this is a solid black colour and you will find that this colour is very very easy to mar!

    We started off with the usual;

    Washed the car with a strong Dilution of All Purpose Cleaner (APC)to remove any product that may of been on the car from the previous owner leaving us with a bare surface in preparation for the decontamination process.

    Out came the Wolfs Chemicals Decon Gel to remove any carbon fall out that was on the vehicle and surprisingly we did see quite a lot of bleeding however it was quite hard to capture this in the camera with the colour clashes (purple/black!). Finishing off with a good rinse down before the clay process.

    Using our favourite Clay Bar (Dodo Juice Gentle Grey) with Born Slippy Lubricant (as being a lubricant water based product this will not leave any residue or stain the solid black colour on the paintwork). We found certain areas had quite a bit of over-spray and other areas very minimal contaminants.

    One final rinse down and having a look at what we really have to work with and need to correct;

    - It seems that someone has had a "go" at this poor paint once or twice before leaving these lovely holograms through the door and other areas.

    - The Tail Lights especially do get affected with swirls/spider webbing just as much as the paintwork will. Leaving you with a hazey-faded look to your tail lights.

    - Not a nice way to see the Alfa Romeo emblem - surrounded by spider webbing!

    - Looks to be the least affected area on the car!

    - Looks like yes definitely has been 'hacked' at before with clear polish residue left.

    To start off with we thought we would trial a few combinations of Pads, Machines & Polishers

    The results were a combination of Menzerna FG500 on the RUPES Blue Pad with the RUPES Bigfoot Polisher for the flatter areas to offer a very good cut to remove those heavier scratches, marring and imperfections found over the entire car.

    For the smaller areas we used again Menzerna FG500 on the DAS6-Pro with the Surbuf Microfibre Pads (5.5" and 4")

    1 Pass with the Surbuf Microfibre Pad & FG500 and this is the result, not to bad for a Dual Action Random Orbital doing the work for you given it is slower, but fantastic result for an RO which is safe for anyone to use!

    A 50/50 shot with the tail light corrected as well!

    The headlight surrounds needed a little bit of work too as they showed a bit of oxidation. Apparently they are 'chrome', who knew!

    Using 1Z Einszett Chrome Metal Polish this is the result we achieved

    After 3 stages on 3 different polishers from Menzerna FG500 for a heavy cut, Menzerna PF2500 for the medium cut/polish and Menzerna SF4000 on a finishing pad to bring the gloss and depth out of the paint.

    To finish and seal the paintwork we used one of our favourite combinations which was Duragloss 601+Duragloss 111 Combination to leave a very wet reflective finish to the paint which will last up 10 months for a daily driver. Easily applied on so the customer can take care of the car in the future!

    The results were this;
