I don't think that's a write off, as that bar, in the photo is designed for this purpose. Its made from softer metal so it absorbs most of the energy and not allowing it traveling through into the passenger cabin.
Really need Photos of the engine bay from the top and bottom if you want a better answer from the community.\
For 2k whoa, and the other party is fine with their car. I would not go through insurance.
