    The base oil that they use is not the best and their additives are designed for grocery getter duties, not high performance engines. I would compare Hi-tech oils to Gulf Western to keep things simple.

    I assume you are talking about a B series here? I use HPR10 day in day out on all my customers B series and it is fantastic. Less oil burning off, keeps the engine cleaner. The 10 Tenths I would recommend if you track the car, otherwise just stick with the HPR10

    When Hi-tech first started I would agree with you but they do run a very good operation these days and there product is a much higher STD,however I would use and have done for the last 10 years Penrite products I have had nothing but success with it and only recently found a better product but its US blended and would rather use an Aussie product that has never let me down.

    I'm currently using the Penrite HPR10 as well. Very happy so far.

    I have not used Hi-tech for over 3 years and when I was using it back then I had nothing but trouble

    Yeah I did a trackday with the owner of Hi-Tech oils early last year and he asked why I stopped using his product and I said dude I had not used it for 10 years
    haha and am nothing but happy with the choice I made for these hi rpm multi valve engines we play with.I do know of 2 race teams that use Hi-Tech products and they are having no trouble with it but Penrite for all my road based Honda engines and Brad Penn for any race only engine these days.

    Just to confirm you saying that it is ok to be using a 10-50 weight. I got told by some o/h members that its too thick and i should use something less weightier. Ye B series with 200K+kms

    Elf is still a Group III. However I would class it as one of the better group III's.

    One point I would be looking at is the Viscosity, I hope you typed 50 by mistake. Unless your honda is chewing through oil (in which case it should be rebuilt) you shouldn't be using a oil as heavy as that.

    From my testing, HPR10 10W50 is the best daily oil to use in the older B series. They like the slightly thicker viscosity as it helps keep oil pressure up and does not burn off anywhere as quick as the 10W30/40 oils out there
