Thanks Aaron, I think you're the first one with the answer that I needed.
Reason for my asking is because my 2002 CRV main CD unit is able to play CD-RW but not the in-dash 6 stacker which I optioned.
Lotsa people still don't know the difference between CD-R and CD-RW....

For CD-R, I use Ricoh Golds, and for CD-RW I use Ricoh 10x (purple ones), Verbatim 10x, Verbatim 12-24x and Imation 4x and 10x discs.
And I NEVER EVER stick any labels on the discs. That is just asking for trouble. Labels cause the disc to go off balance when spinning. A majority of computer CD-ROM drives have built in vibration damping mechanisms (because they spin so fast at up to 50x), but I doubt that audio CD readers have the same.

I'm pretty sure I had no problem playing CD-RW.
Never had any problem with burnt cd jamming.
I think the dealer is just pulling out a load of garbage with that one.

My dealer told me not to use copied CDs to play in the unit after mine got stuck and wouldn't play. I never believed him and after warranty replacement, I continued to use copied CDs (TDK and another unknown brandname) and had no problems since...

No problems with CD-RW or CD-R's.
I use Imation or Princo for CR-RW's and any decent brand for CD-R's. I think you might have got a defected stacker as my Euro was purchased end of 03.

you guys are probably right. i dont think they ever replaced our stacker, they merely just removed the jammed disk and put the faulty stacker back in. i use sony cd-r, and i dont put a sticker on them, i just use the specail cd pen to write on it.
but what i dont get it, it never jams when using normal cd's, only when i use cd-r... ???
this really isnt a major issue anyway, since a full sound system is going in soon, head unit and all. MAYBE a dvd screen if there is any money left

Using CDRs in Euro
Some normal CDRs work and others dont (Skips, hisses, etc.). I found using CDR s specially marked for Music works fine (Maxell, Verbatim and TDK).
I actually have a CD stuck in my stacker now. Does any one have a suggestion on how to get it out (short of taking it back to the dealer)?
-
everytime we got a cd stuck, had to take back to the dealer. unless your confident with pulling out the stacker from behind the centre dash console...
-
I haven't had any issues with burnt CDs and have had my euro for over 2 years and pretty much used burnt CDs exclusively of all brands.
I don't see how a burnt CD would get stuck moreso than a normal CD unless it is a blank and teh player continually keeps searching for tracks.
Perhaps someone can enlighten me.

That's odd, the only time I've ever had skipping was with CD-RW media, burnt at top speed (10x) instead of a more conservative 4x. I don't get hisses or others. Get the dealer to do it. It's better to let it get stuffed by the dealer opening it rather than by you.

Not all blanks are the same, some vary quite a bit in the thickness of the actuall cd. We have a 10disc stacker for the home theatre and sometimes cd's would get stuck, when i pulled it out n compared it to a normal cd it was 1.5x the thickness. The main reason for cd's getting stuck is the bigger thickness. Another possibility is home made labels, since cd's can get quite hot when in use the glue used can melt and the label peels off. I got a printer that prints directly onto cd's so i dont have to worry abt labels peeling off hehe
Our euro doesnt even know what an original cd is... lol
I've been using verbatim and imation blanks, just the normal ones and not the specialised Audio Disc. So far havn't had any cd get stuck or skip. As for the use of cd-rw's i'm not sure abt that.

yeah burnt disc are ok... but i'm getting a few tracks here and there that won't play... oh well I just skip those track!
btw I use TDK CDR
-
I stopped using TDK a long time ago. My TDK discs from 4 years back don't play anymore. The Kodaks from the same time are still good. I use Ricoh now, they are fairly thin, and comparing now, it is thinner than the TDK.
