    Hi fellow FDs owner,

Got a few question in relation to swapping seats on fd vtil and sport.

    1) Which manufacturing year fd vti does not have side airbags or OPDS?

    2) Is the SRS module unit connect to the ECU of the car?

    3) Will i have any issue if i swap my current vtil SRS module unit with a non side airbags SRS module unit say from 2006 VTI civic? Non-crashed SRS unit of course.

    4) Also anyone know or tried to swap Integra Type S seats with airbags and OPDS into a FD VTIL or Sport? Any issue with the SRS unit registering the new seats?

Thanks and look forward to inputs from experienced FD gurus

Perhaps i should rephrase" smallest wheel diameter" to best tyres size for handling and looks based on 17x8 rims. I really adore the setup that you and chrischris have but i don't think i can pull it off knowing lowering springs will take 1-2inch off. Hence trying to go lower by changing tyres size without touching the springs or affect the ride too much. I do agree with you that my springs could possibly be swapped.

I was inspired by the first FD Type R concept by SPOON based on a FD1 chasis many years ago. They had a F20 head on a K20a block inside.
If you are going for a functional build then I would go for something around 215/45, 225/45 or 225/40.
In order for your car to handle better you need as much contact to the road as possible. So chunky tyres is a must.
But even 215/45 on an 8" Wide rim isnt even chunky.
Its hard to get best of both worlds. Its either built to Function or Hard Parked.

Agreed, it's hard to get best of both world. I will try 215/45 and maybe move to 225/45 later stages. Thank you for your advices there are valuable to me

    All good.
As of your Seats question. A member did a FN2R seat change in his FD. Not sure if he had Airbags in his original seats
but he had to pay about $500 to get the FN2R seats in his car. Think JPrak had to do the same but with his Recaro seats.

I swapped my driver seat to a Recaro seat and currently driving with my SRS light on. Doesnt bother me as much
but will be getting a resistor sooner or later to get rid of the light. Right now its throwing the code out and bags wont deploy if I get into an accident.
But then again. Safety is for faggots anyways cause #YOLO.

Jokesss Lol. Just havent had time to get the resistor yet.

Sometimes we all like to live on the edge LOL
Anyway, correct me if i am wrong but the resistor is just to bypass the side airbags for both driver and passenger seat but to bypass the OPDS on the passenger seat is whole different story.

    From what i know the below method to bypass the OPDS;

    1) Take the OPDS and sensors from original seat and stuck it to the aftermarket seat. ( Read a Accord Euro CL doing this)
    2) Buy a pair of FD2R seats and basically plug everything in ( rail mods required i believe) ( i have also read USDM Honda Fit with SI seats-apparently their current SRS modules accepts the new seats)

I am investigating the below unproven possibilities:

    1) Swapping out the SRS module to a non side airbag SRS module ( say 2006 VTI civic)
    2) Swap Integra Type S seats w/ side airbags OPDS

Please to hear any comments from fellow members

So I did something similar to this about 2 weeks ago to my car, I'll try answer your questions for you.

Pre-facelift 2006 to 2008, has no side airbags in their vti models, correct me if I'm wrong

    2) Is the SRS module unit connect to the ECU of the car?
There's apparently a control unit in each seat which communicates to the computer of the car, (abit vague, i'm not sure if its srs/ecu modules)

    3) Will i have any issue if i swap my current vtil SRS module unit with a non side airbags SRS module unit say from 2006 VTI civic? Non-crashed SRS unit of course.

If you car comes with airbags, and you swap it to seats with no airbags, you will have the airbag light appearing. rendering ALL airbags off. I think your question refers to SRS itself to make it not even look for a side airbag right? Then not to sure, in theory it seems plausible.

    4) Also anyone know or tried to swap Integra Type S seats with airbags and OPDS into a FD VTIL or Sport? Any issue with the SRS unit registering the new seats?

I swap, 2011 leather FD2 front seats, with my airbagged 2011 FD1 seats, and even though both contained airbags, and from same chassis, i still had the airbag light error. I took it to a work shop, resetting the code to clear it wasn't enough, the error just pops up again after you start your car again. Using the "paper clip" method, had the same result, the error appears.

I took it to Honda, paid about 130, they had to reinitialise the unit (i guess format it), and then reset it (match it with the cars unit). And it worked fine. NOTE: if you do go this option, make sure to get the VIN number of the car you're getting the seats from, it assists Honda with the process.

Thanks and look forward to inputs from experienced FD gurus

    Ain't a guru, but You're welcome

I was on mightcarmods forum, and milkchicken (honda fanatic) told me of the same process, remove the control unit in each seat, and shove it in the aftermarkets, to make the computer think it's still connected to the factory ones. Was going to do it, but didn't like the idea of chopping up my stock seats (head onto 8thcivic, there's a DIY .pdf file that shows you step by step in taking apart your seat), and the fact it would be time consuming.

    2) Buy a pair of FD2R seats and basically plug everything in ( rail mods required i believe) ( i have also read USDM Honda Fit with SI seats-apparently their current SRS modules accepts the new seats)

JDM FD2R seats do not have airbags, from memory

I am investigating the below unproven possibilities:

    In theory, yes.

    2) Swap Integra Type S seats w/ side airbags OPDS

I wanted to swap FN2R seats, which have airbags, and pretty sure I have to take it to honda to do the same process. I'm not sure seats from a different model car would communicate the same.. as mine was from a FD2 to FD1, so I assume it was be kinda of more simple.

Jprak, also didn't have side airbags in his stock seats either.
Thus, neither had the airbag light error.

Hope my answers are helpful, I spent weeks of research, but couldn't get a definite answer, but I really wanted the leather, so I just yolo. Hope the above helps fellow/future FD owners.

Not even brooo. I point mine down and doesnt blind anyone. Get 6000k HIDs!
I got them pointed down before I started modifying my car and because my car is
lowered now I can barely see ahead of me lol. Can probably see 5m ahead of me? Or even less.
Need to readjust them but no time

Im thinking about retrofitting projector lights in.
Anyone recommend a good brand for projector lens?
Or should I just buy S2000 lens? Heard They're one of the best?

I didn't adjust my headlights when i first put HIDs in, and already it was pointing slightly closer than halogens. My HIDs in my foglights were more blinding than the HIDs in the low beams..

Retrofitting is good, just go TheRetrofitSource, they are quite pricey and the Quality control isn't the best, but they've ironed out a lot of the issues by now. It's a good read, talks about all the diff types of lenses/projectors, and yes the s2000 are great.

Definitely s2000 lens or any other OEM honda projector and retro fitting. Could even paint your housing black if thats your thing

    Thats the plan
But first thing first. Got to order new springs from BC Racing.
Gunna YOLO and go 12kg rear springs and 12 or 14kg fronts.
The rubbing is starting to annoy me

Cheaper than getting Camber arms lol

SharkChu thanks for the input and congrats on the seat swap. I have also been researching for quite sometime on this matter.

I need to apologise as I stated wrongly on the fn2r seats..they do come with airbags n opds. I think with your recent experiences its proven that the srs module cannot interact directly with either a different airbag or opds from another car without resetting.

The only option yet to be tested is swapping a non airbag srs module unit. Hence I am curious if the module itself is connected to the car ecu. From my research the module itself its not cheap as wreckers have many that are not usable due to airbags deployed during accident. It would be great if someone with this valuable knowledge can shed some light.
