Looking good mate! Perfect ride height. How much lower (roughly) will the bottom of the K sit compared to the stock E07? I'm guessing running it current height will be out of the question?
If you ever get a new rear bar and don't need those rear mud flaps I'll take them off your hands can't seem to find any sets on YJ and mine had them missing.
When I did a preliminary measurement, to keep the lowest part of the K motor where the E motor sitting, the Engine has to stick out more from the compartment.
So the stock rear engine bay cover is no longer could fit, and require custom covers.
also not to mention that we have to consider the drive shafts loaded and unloaded angle so that it wouldn't bind over the U joint knuckle.
As per height, don't think the current height would stay. We're thinking of putting at least a 205 tires at rears and that requires some wide fenders and some body modifications. well they all still under "planning"
I'll keep you all posted once I get into this stage. just got to move a few cars out from the workshop before i can get into this part LOL.
As per rear bar, I actually just bought a new set of full body kit from US Racing Japan. But I might keep the stock bumpers for now just incase i would like to go back to stock looking.
Hit up my mates at Eujin @ JDM Auto Link. i'm sure he would be able to find some for you.
It's been sometimes I haven't update this thread blame the holiday period
Anyway, just to catch up of what's been happening on the past few weeks... oh it's definately a slow one.
I scored another yahoo jap stuff, This time is a body parts. it was one of that un-necessary stuff that once you bought it and felt, HECK maybe i dont need it! lol.
So I grabbed a full set of US RACING SPORTS bumper kits
Also a new bonnet, mine has been in a front ender, and me being picky! it doesnt lined up the way i want it...
there is finger gap differences on either side...
When the kit is fitted is looking something like this when it's done
Updates with car... well.
I got to in to the work shop and start stripping it all appart Sort of bare for now..
Puff! the engine is out
Gladd! we have the hoist... was so much easier to drop the engine down than taking it out from the top...
few mounting bolts, and trolley table under it. a litte bit of elbow grease and air tools. The mighty 3 cylinder is finally out!
The hardest bit is to try figure out what things need to take out, We so used to work with B series, EG, EK chassis and this is something new.
But we got there and now that K20 is looming over it ready to jump in there... LOL
sorry bout this pottato photos... hand was shakey.. need coffee fix.. LOL!
Not self.. Dont get anything from UK...
Bolts were rusted, Alternator sort of fused it self due to the aluminum rust! oh man it was a night mare to open the up box!
we decided to leave the alternator in for now and finaly We have the gear box opened up to see what's inside.
to my suprise, it has been opened before and has a shifter fork changed, i guess it was common on EP3 on having a shitty fork then?
and we are replacing the Open diff with the spare JDM Torsen LSD we have out of the race car. I'm taking a gamble on the synchros.. we'll see... may be plan change due to weather? LOL
I did another measurement, looks like there is going to be a cut and box up section needs to be applied to the chassis, for now i have not put the engine to the the engine bay yet, as we were busy doing other things during the holiday period.
I have to rush up to finish up the race car, before i can work on this again. By the time holiday finishes i have ran out of time to do anything! geeezz time flies...
Well that's it for me, Will update more if anything changes!
i feel a bit sad that you are putting a k20 into it
Well, If i have an immaculate car Yes, i would keep it standard.
This car isn't the best condition...
so i'm making it 'better' each on their own i guess
