    D16Y4 Rebuild Parts?

Hey Guys, I'm new to this forum and I would appreciate the help.

I Have a Honda Civic GLI 97 ek1 Sedan with a D16Y4 engine and I am looking for parts or a site that sells a rebuild engine kit preferably in Australia as I am from Sydney.

My engine is pretty old almost hitting 300,000 kms and I take very good care of the car but it does need a detail repair.
Also any parts from other motors that I can cross over

So does anyone know any sites or suppliers that can help?

What parts do you need? Just out of curiosity; if the engine has 300,000kms on it, wouldn't it be wiser to buy a newer complete engine? You'd be heaps more satisfied with a B16B or even a B16A for the EK.

just thought there might be like a engine rebuild kit , but if it is cheaper to just do an engine swap then I'll do that, but then won't I need a new ecu , tranny and a tune up because I doubt it's just a simple swap

It won't be a simple swap. But, if you have that many KMs on the clock, your engine has been pretty worn irrespective of how much care you've taken and that's assuming that you're the first owner. If you do the rebuild you'll spend the money regardless. Remember, this is just my opinion, but I would write the current engine off, spend whatever time that engine has left researching and saving and then id drop in a stock b16b with all the necessary upgrades.

It would definitely be cheaper to do an engine swap - and IMO you should. Go to a wrecker , find your model or a slightly newer version and grab the motor and install.
A bottom and top end rebuild (replace all gaskets/seals/rehone bores etc) you are looking around $1800ish++. A replacement equivalent engine including installation would be around $1000 all up at a proper workshop. You can reduce that cost by doing some or all the labour yourself.

PS you wont need anytihng new. You can literally grab any SOHC honda civic motor from 1992-2000 ( and some beyond) and it will fit your setup quite easily.

What do you want out of it, performance or economy?

I am in the same boat. Have 250,000 plan to buy a 2nd motor and rebuild it. Ebay parts range from d16y4 to y8 you never really know what your getting till it doesnt fit
