I'd say that it's a great thing though a bit of extra weight won't hurt either.

If I was going to strip my 3rd Gen Civic down I'd be lucky to get it down to 800kgs without resorting to cutting random holes.

And mine is pretty loaded inside with current day features, stereo system, central locking, full dash, door cards, front and rear seats and a boot lined with mdf and carpet so imagine if I stripped it all out......easy 200 kegs could be removed.

Man u can get obsessed with stripping weight out,hey Lloyd hahahaha.Man I still get images of u going to the drags in ya old stripped little beast.

I bet u had just as much enjoyment in that car as u have in the ep3.

    It's all relative.

Mfactory LSD diff and final drive arrived. New diff bearings came with it too.
Installing the bearings was as simple as heating them up with a heat gun till they started to smoke a little (this expands the bearing) then just dropped them onto the diff. No press required.
I also painted the subframe and its components. Looks pretty good I think.

So I'm 2 days into a 4 day weekend and finally making some progress. Subframe was painted a couple of weeks ago so I was able to get straight into it.

    - Programmed the mini fuel sender to the Honda fuel gauge using the Spiyda fuel gauge wizard
    - Replaced the timing belt, tensioner, cam seals and crankshaft seal
    - Replaced the sump gasket (even painted the sump)
    - I mounted the new Walbro fuel pump to the original mini fuel pump bracket
    - I made up some 5mm steering rack limiters
    - Fitted the rocker cover with new gaskets
    - Put the engine into the subframe (For the last time. Fingers crossed)
    - Alternator and belt fitted
Then lowered the car onto the engine. The new hoist made this part simple. Worth every penny.
