Engine Noise Noticed When Cap Installed

hey guys cant work out why i get engine noise when i have a 1 farad cap in. im running 4gauge to the cap but then 8gauge is used from a distribution block. could it be that there isnt enough earthing. no engine noise is evident when i take out the cap. Also caps dont do much for your headlights when they are HID. It didnt help with dimming. So in conclusion i think he cap was a waste of money.

im using hid headlights and the 1 farad cap made a massive difference to mine. my volts guage doesnt dip at all under bass load.
the only reason it may be giving engine noise is if the power wire is running to close to rca or speaker wire

I didn't think you need to charge them. Anyway just turning your car on charges them because the power runs in series or parrellel (can't remember ) with your battery.

Check to see that the length of your cable to the cap is shorter then the cable to your battery. I think the longest you should have the cable is 1 - 1.5 m? that could be a reason why your cap ain't working because the sub is still stealing power from your car battery.

no you do have to charge some capacitors.
i know the fusion ones already do come charged.
just put the power cable onto the positive of the capacitor, and you should the volt meter go up slowly, charge it for 5-10 mins until it reaches 14 or so volts.
then disconnect the postive cable.
then earth the cap and connect the positive.
cap should be charged.
that's how i charge my cap.

from the cap to the amp, should be no longer than 1.5 meters, but.. the best you can do is, mount the amp as clsoe to the cap as possible running the shortest power cable possible.

you should of spent your money on an optima battery rather than a cap

caps wont help your lights from dimming, they just store a little power for when the amps need that little more. good batteries will generally solve that problem and good wiring also
