    the only way to bring the car into the country is to own it in japan (or where ever) for 1 year, and bring it in as a personal import. I will then be complianced with a yellow plate.

    Yeah I read about that. I saw one in NZ that is about $6000 for a 92 model I was thinkin of getting it owning it for a year (my relatives live there and have a spare spot in there garage). But that is just way too much effort for a car in my opinion. Plus its probably easier just to wait til I find one here...like I sai I'm not in a rush, just thinkin about it.
