Help with my VTEC

I am a bit of a begginer when it comes to Hondas.

I was told the other day that i can get the VTEC in my Civic to kick in at a lower RPM. At the moment it comes in at about 5000rpm.

Is this true. If so how do you do it?

buy a VTec crossover point controller

but i wouldn't mess with it if u've done nothing to the engine..

the vtec in your civic actually does kick in at alot lower rpm than you think it does already. SOHC vtec has a different crossover point to DOHC vtec. sohc-low to mid rpm, dohc- high rpm.

Yeah mine kicks in round 4000RPMs if I boot it wooh

Making it "kick in" earlier will only cause you to lose performance.

Stock crossover points are placed where the power curves of each cam profiles cross over, for a smooth change and maximum area under the curve.

If you want a slower car, by all means, change the crossover point.

you only wanna change it when you've done mods, as the power curves change. You should in that case change the engagement point accordingly.

Otherwise, leave it as it is for best performance

no recommand to get vtec controller at this stage as u dun have any mod, it rather to spend the money on other mod first!
for a stock engine is no point to change the crossover point!
