I was told by a honda salesperson when i was looking at a new civic or jazz that interior volume of the jazz was actually greater than the civic. I dont know if this is true though.

The 1.5 definately gives more of a push than the 1.3. They're very different to drive power wise.

thx for the answers, one question remains unanswers:

    - do all three models (Gli/VTi/VTiS) handle the same? (apart from marginal difference due to weight)

    and a new Q:
what is the redline and cut off threshold in the 1.5L vtec engine? i drove the 1.3L, it is onl a bit over 6K, pretty low for a honda engine?

I'm pretty sure all models have identical suspension. I never noticed a difference between their "ride". In fact the 05 model gli i drove the other day actually had firmer suspension than my 03 vti - but I'm pretty sure that would have been new car vs 2 year old car thing, not a difference in suspension.

re the redline, i think in vti's its 6,300 which as you say is short for a honda. I'm pretty sure the reason for this is that the 1.5 is a long stroke engine, meaning it has characteristics of being high torque but a lower ability to rev.

my apology felix.. sorry .. I misunderstood... I thought you are going to be one of them who laugh at Jazz as a slow car.. oh well, nobody said Jazz is a fast car anyway..

I've sat on a BMW 325 (or isit 330) before.. and have that kick back feel when the driver accelerate...

yea the 330 is kidof has the push back feel but should feel a m3 lovely lol and personally i would go the vtis looks better, and you get te vtec! vti is ugly unless you modd it wheras vtis looks aite stock...

i think i will go for the VTi, unless a VTiS comes up with a very good price, what annoys me the most is that the 2nd hand Jazz market is pretty much dead, especially for private sales, 90% of the cars are from the dealers, and i hate going to dealers, cos they just keep pushing on and on... and the overall 2nd hand prices of the Jazz are even more than comparable (age/kms) 7th gen Civics?

You might find for 1-2K more you can buy new.

I think the reason so many are for sale at dealers 2nd hand is most people just trade them in for the sheer convenience. For the extra thousand or so you get doing a private sale it isn't worth putting up with all the tyre kickers crap.
